Windblown...

Seti is so very special to us.  She has really blossomed in her new role of helping individuals with Special Needs.  She just loves her special friends...really loves them.  She'll turn 32 in April and personally I hope she lives to be 100.

GREAT way to start my weekend...

I mean it when I tell you that I love the work I am doing at the farm with some VERY special people.  I look forward to each lesson.  Thank you to those who trust in me and this work.  I'm so grateful that my horses and I are able to help.  :)

Taking this gig on the road...

Remember when I bought this?  And I was predicting a banner year?  Well the flood gates have opened and Calm Acres at Meadow Creek Farm is surpassing all of my expectations.
Each day the horses are helping people.

Today I setup a booth at a local Non-Profit Yard Sale.  It was amazing!  So many people to chat with about the work we do at Calm Acres.  So many opportunities to share stories about the horses and the people they help.  I even had a few clients visit me...total highlight.

I sold some stuff...made $38 for Calm Acres.  Not bad for a fun day with friends.
(Smiles for Miles!!)

Happy to help

Whenever I can share my philosophy, heart and soul with regards to the work I do at Calm Acres (at Meadow Creek Farm), I jump at the opportunity.  I truly feel it is a chance to share a piece of what I love about my farm.

And, when I receive a thank you like this...it sure validates the importance.

Smiles for miles.

A Banner Year

I've recently received a lot of interest in my non-profit.  It excites me to no end...for many reasons.  I think it's gonna be a banner year.  :)

Fun with Braids

One of my Clients at Calm Acres asked if she could braid one of the horse's mane.
So we did.  And, it turned out GREAT!

Feeling very loved...

On of my most cherished clients made these for me.  He excels at mosaics...he loves puzzles, so it's a nice cross over for him.  Gorgeous mosaic Easter basket and egg.  And, an amazing mosaic horse coaster.  I am more amazed each time he visits Calm Acres.  He is learning so many skills and his communication is expanding.  Terrific!!!

The best coworkers of all...

These horses perform the most amazing work at Calm Acres.  I am forever in their debt and am proud to call them my coworkers.  Now if they would just stop and buy donuts every now and then, I'd be the happiest girl in the world!

TGIF...smiles

Justin had a terrific session this morning. He is gaining independence with each visit. AND, he left me a lovely broom art creation in the barnyard. Pretty cool huh? I thought so too.

In the news...WOOT!

Last week I had the opportunity to participate in a Comcast Newsmaker interview about
Calm Acres (a small non-profit I started in November).
FUN!
I always enjoy talking about my work at Calm Acres
and the impact it has on the lives of the people I help.
Enjoy!

Giving Tuesday

Today is Giving Tuesday.  Before I ask you to consider a donation to Calm Acres, let me tell you about Frank.

Frank is an animal lover; he really enjoys Disney movies, going to yard sales and eating burgers at Denny’s.  He also loves the horses at Calm Acres.  When Frank visits the farm, he is calm…he is relaxed.  For most that would not seem unusual.  But to Frank’s mom it’s phenomenal.  For Frank’s mom, the hour Frank spends with the horses is rewarding beyond words can describe.  For Frank’s mom the reward is in witnessing her son learn, work, help, smile, laugh, socialize and above all else, relax.

We celebrate three days (Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday) where we shop for the best deals.  How about a day (Giving Tuesday) where we give back to others?  After all, it IS what the season is about right?  Interested in helping us help more people like Frank?  Please consider a small tax-deductible donation to Calm Acres ($25 goes a very long way).

Visit us at www.CalmAcres.org for details on how you can help and to learn more about our work.  From the bottom of my heart…I thank you.  Please share my appeal if you feel it worthy.

My oh my...Calm Acres is ALIVE!!!!

Today it became official.  Thanks to the Carroll Community Foundation, Calm Acres has achieved 501c3 status.  What does this mean exactly?  I can continue to offer customized equine experiences to individuals with special needs at a VERY reduced rate (in most cases free).

Can you see my smile?  I'm so excited to continue this work...and help more people.

Visit my site if you have time...www.CalmAcres.org  And hey, if you want to make a donation (no matter how small) I'd love you forever.  Really.  FOREVER!!
