I had a heck of a time getting this photo. Seriously...no matter where I went in the pasture Cheech was right there. Finally I ended up climbing inside the ring...that sort of worked. Although I could sense she was trying to figure out a way to get closer.

Miss You Much
It's been four years today since Quest died. And not a day goes by that I don't miss him terribly. I sure wish he were still here with me, but I am grateful that I was able to have him in my life for the time that I did. He really was the best.

Kind eyes
Most people that meet Buddy for the first time comment on his face. They just love his face. It's his eyes...they are so expressive...and kind. I think I'll keep him.

Safe neighborhood?
Just when you think your neighborhood is safe...some schmuck comes along and steals the rims right off your manure spreader and puts it up on blocks. Oie! (Psssst...actually Mark took the wheel to fix a slow leak due to a bent rim. Mark is NO schmuck...he's my lovey.)

January sucks for me
Four years ago I lost my horse Quest. It was a very difficult thing for me. And because of that event...I have hated January's since then. Today I can say I hate them even more.
My newest (and beloved) barn cat Frankie was struck by a car this morning and killed. I am devastated. For those who know, my cat Timbre has been diagnosed with Lymphoma and I am bracing myself for the inevitable.
Frankie's arrival was salve for my wounded heart...he brought me joy and made me realize that there is still life. I believe this is why I am mourning him so. We will bury him today and I will try very hard to be grateful for the short time he gave me smiles.
Travel well my little friend.

Ice Ice Baby
Sorry...now YOU'LL be singing that song all day...just like I did when I wrote this post. Sorry, but misery loves company. Ha! Either way...please enjoy the ice of Meadow Creek Farm. It's really very lovely.
(btw...whatever happened to Vanilla Ice? Did I hear correctly that he had a reality show in the making?)

Mouse? What mouse?
Frankie: Look Ma...me T-I-R-E-D. Tired. I realize that 'mouse' is this close, but it's gonna have to wait.
Me: Frankie...that mouse is not one that I am concerned with. Go back to sleep.

Bye Bye Christmas Tree
For me, the taking down of the Christmas tree is a sad day. I delay it as long as humanly possible...I mean really if it were up to me, I'd leave our tree up all year 'round. I mean it's fake, so there's no threat of fire or mass needle exodus. But, I knew deep down it was time. So, this past weekend I took down our tree. I miss it terribly. And I really miss these little guys. See you next year fellas...

We had fun
I know Christmas is long gone...and the hustle and bustle of pre-Christmas is REALLY long gone...but I had so much fun shopping those last few days. Mark and I think alike...and I think we put smiles on many a face.

Well read
Timbre keeps up with all the current events. What? What do you mean the City Paper doesn't count? I beg to differ.

So you need kindling? No problem!
Read this post with a thick french accent...trust me, it will make it MUCH more fun.
So you need kindling you say?
No problem little lady. I'll get right on that.
Just a few little bites here...and here...and we'll have plenty of kindling for that wood stove thing of yours.
Okay...so this might take a little longer than I expected...can you come back in...say...45 minutes?

Different poses of Frankie
Me: Okay Frankie...let's practice your posing. How about you give me Happy.
Frankie: Happy is easy for me.
Me: Okay that was good...now give me sad.
Frankie: Of course it was good...I'm a natural.
Me: Nice...now show me surprised.
Frankie: Easy...here.
Me: Hmmmmm...I think we need to do a little more work Frankie...you need more variety.
Frankie: You'll need to discuss that with my agent...I'm going into overtime with this shoot.

Yet another of Diesel's many talents
I have been keeping after Mark to wear a scarf or a neck gator to keep the cold air off his neck. I think he's found something even better.
