Always ready to assist

Diesel is such a great helper...(and seat warmer)...

Even after we've woken him from his mid afternoon nap (YAWN).  Sorry buddy.

ChiChi turns 5!

Yesterday was ChiChi's 5th birthday.  And in historical fashion, I sang to her.  Don't worry...I have NO plans to quit my day job.  Really.  (Randy, JLo, Steven...call me.)

CB Red Riding Hood

I hope the big bad wolf doesn't find her.  We kind of like her around here.

Had to add this one too...I took the photo with my new phone...not sure I selected the correct filter...but it was still pretty.

Little Hobbit House

A few weeks ago a friend and I attended the Faerie Festival in nearby Glen Rock, PA.  What fun!  On the property where the festival is held there is an adorable little Hobbit House.

The little details of the house are so amazing.  Everything serves a function.  Light is let in through the small glass windows...

and the large sky light.

There is a place to cook, read, and warm the house.  What more do you need?  Really.  I would love to vacation here.  Just seeing the pictures again gives me a sense of peace.

A special Mother's Day

I know it's been over a week since Mother's Day.  But life has gotten in the way of my computer time.  (we just built a freakin' bridge for God's sake! Cut me some slack...gheesh!)

Anyway...Mark loves cutting flowers etc. from our property to use for gift arrangements for people.  On Mother's Day he was in full effect.  He had gathered his florals and was busily arranging in the kitchen.  So sweet!  I knew his and my mom were gonna love this.

But...can you imagine my surprise...when he present ME with my own bouquet?  I was shocked!

But that's not all...he also got me a lovely card...

that he WROTE in...the message was so endearing.  I cried.  I really did.  He gets it...and he gets me.  It's so nice to know my life partner is so in tune with me and my feelings.  I'm so, so, so lucky.

A bridge...a bridge...my kingdom for a bridge!

Okay...so maybe I got that quote all wrong...BUT...we are this close to finishing our new bridge to the side field...and my riding ring where my Equine Assisted Learning will take place.

Go here...for the words...and go here for the pictures.  More to come...I'm sure.

I'm so excited!  I think I may need to find a bottle of champagne to bash on it...or maybe sparkling cider...heck...a YooHoo would be more appropriate for me.

(BTW...we deliberately made it that high...to a) thwart horses from using it...and to b)...keep water from destroying it.)  We will have removable steps to access it.  Hand rails too.

Snuggler

CB loves to snuggle...especially when the snuggling involves either Mark or my favorite brown blanket.  I think she loves them equally...but those eyes tell me she may like the blanket a teeny bit more.  (and I didn't even need to rub tuna on it!)

Sexy Seti Pasta

I call Seti...'Seti Spaghetti'.  Not sure why...except that it's just fun to say.  But recently I decided to start calling her Pasta.  Just Pasta.  I think she likes it.

Non flowering things...truly beautiful too

I realized I've been featuring a lot of flowering farm things on my blog.  Well, we have some very lovely non-flowering things blooming too.  And they make me just as happy.  Our twisted willows are looking lovely.  We planted a new one and it's really taking off.

The gingko is one of my favorites...the shapes of the leaves are so unique.  Like little duck feet.

Mother Nature's power

In honor of Mother's Day...I thought I'd pay a tribute to Mother Nature.

We've had a very wet spring so far in Maryland.  Actually, I don't think we've made it 3 straight days without rain.  When the skies open up...our stream rises.  I mean...seriously rises.  I came home to find this...mother nature's power amazes me.  She must have been pms-ing...or maybe it was menopause...hot flashes...mood swings.  Fun.

Luckily with the help of our trusty skid steer...mother nature got a taste of Tree's power.  Ha!  Take that Mother Nature.  (it was like you were never even here)

BTW...all you mom's out there...Happy Mother's Day!

Best sides of Buddy

I love Buddy's butt.  It's frosted...like a powdered donut.

His face is pretty awesome too.  LOVE that face.

How do I know it's spring?

Well...stuff is blooming around the farm...

and...Mark is mowing the monster hill behind our house.

It's so nice to have so many clear signs.    Nuff said.

Hangin' out with Mark

I am surrounded by boys.  All they want to do is hang out with each other, burping, tooting, scratching their butts and surfing the net.

Diesel fits right in.
