Fun on New Year's Eve

Not sure what you're doing tonight, but we are being entertained by our cats torment over a new Christmas gift.  Didn't take long for them to 'figure' it out.  Amazing how food can be such a motivator...I think they get that trait from me.

New Toys for Frankie

It was obvious from all the toys, that Frankie was a good boy this year.  Which isn't saying much considering he's only a few months old.

New Toy for Tree

This year for Christmas, Mark surprised me with the coolest gift ever.  And, not only was the gift super cool, but he lead me on a scavenger hunt to find it.  I was running around the farm like a little kid.  And what a great surprise when I uncovered this...nope...it wasn't jewelry either.  It was MUCH better!

Less than 12 hours later I was putting my new toy to work...and man do we make beautiful music together.

SO OVER Christmas...

Timbre loves Mark.  So much in fact that she takes every available opportunity to plop her butt down on anything that he happens to lay down.  You can just see it in her face..."Me LOVES Mark. Now LEAVE ME ALONE to enjoy his pants."

It's the little things

I think these plastic Christmas tree decorations cost close to nothing when I bought them last year, but man do they give me a wealth of smiles.  I just adore these little dogwoods all decorated.  So cute!

Christmas Spirit has invaded Meadow Creek Farm

Mark and I decorated the farm in early December.  And in true Mark and Teresa fashion...we called on the heavy hitters...the BIG equipment.  Sure made a large job seem small.  (Best part?  The skid loader has heat! Hey my mom didn't raise no dumbie.)

ps.  No husbands were harmed in any way during this process.  Promise.

I love to bake...sshhhh...don't tell

Most people think (or know) that I can't (or don't) cook (Okay...the truth is...I don't really LIKE to cook) but I can bake...and I love it.  This apple cake recipe is from a LONG time ago (when I was a kid...see?  I told you it was a long time ago) and I usually bake it in a bundt pan.   But I got an idea...smaller loaf style cakes would make great gifts...eureka...it worked!  I already ate one.  What?!  What's the problem?! Can't a girl give herself a gift?  Sheesh...lay off!

Butt...they like each other!

Funny how horses that share an owner and experiences naturally gravitate to each other.  I'm so grateful that Bud and Cheech are good friends...makes those long trailer rides much more enjoyable. (hay bags help too)

Me wanna smartphone!

Frankie:  Hey Ma...ain't I cute?
Me: Yeah...you're cute alright.

Frankie:  So how's about you let me get a smartphone so I can text all the ladies?  A Blackberry would be nice.  

Me:  Um...the ladies?  Huh?  What ladies?  You know you're too young to date.  But...those eyes...those ears...that adorable face.  Okay...here.  Merry Christmas...early.

Or maybe that should read safe yard.  Either way these two doe seem to know that it's hunting season.  They are routinely seen on our property...mainly in our yard eating things I'd rather they not eat.  But hey, at least they're safe.  Alive.  Beautiful.  (I keep telling them to stay on this side of the blue marked trees).

Proud to be an American

Buddy wears his American pride up front and center.  Okay...maybe it's sort of to the back and near his hip, but he is definitely proud.

Fast learner

Frankie is a fast learner.  Of course it helps that he has such a great mentor.  Diesel makes sure he knows all the important stuff...you know...how to lounge on the couch, how to nap, how to sleep the day away.  It's all good.

If you are a vegetarian, PETA follower or just don't like turkey...please do not read this post.  You have been warned.

Soooooo...my work (have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE my new job?  Well I do.) gave all employees a frozen turkey for staff appreciation day.  You can see some of the turkey distribution here.  So I figured out really quick, I need to cook.  Uh oh.  I haven't cooked a turkey since the early 90s...seriously...stop laughing.  But have no fear...there are INSTRUCTIONS on the wrapping.  Phew!

I think I did pretty well...Mark said it was tasty.  But he gets paid to say that.  (ps.  I'm also making homemade applesauce...move over Martha Stewart!)

I think Cheech is trying to tell us something.  No more late night TV for her.

Firewood for Fall

There I go again with my alliteration.  Sorry...it's a curse.   There are few things that make me happier than a porch full of firewood.  Well unless you know that we got ALL of our firewood (so far) from our own property...for free...well unless you consider our time, wear and tear on our backs and the gas for the chainsaw...small price to pay.  It's our Quality Time together.  Couples that gather wood together...stay together.  Promise.  (and we'll be nice and warm this winter!)

Seti turns 28 in April...that face does not seem to be almost 28 to me. Must be the anti-wrinkle cream she uses each night.  Shhhhhh...don't tell her I told you.  She doesn't think I know about it.

Ricketts Glenn, PA

There were several times on this trip that I was awe struck...and no words could describe what I was seeing.  Breath taking.  Really.

If I do say so myself.  Wait...I did just say so...and I am myself.  So there's no "if" about it.  We ARE cute.  And man were those waterfalls amazing.  More pics of those to come.  Stay tuned.

A working weekend getaway

Last weekend Mark and I took a mini vacation to Ricketts Glenn in PA.  Wow...what an amazing place.  I have pics to upload, but this post is about Mark.  Even when we are on holiday (I love calling it that...sounds like we're rich...and foreign), Mark works hard.  He did most (okay pretty much all) of the wood gathering for our firepit outside the cabin.  He's such a good guy...made me feel bad when we found out (ON OUR LAST DAY!) that the park provides free firewood in a huge bin at the park entrance.  Woops.
